Jul 17, 2020 We assess CO2 emissions from the Nile Delta region of Egypt, using over five years of column-averaged CO2 dry air mole fraction (XCO2) data from the NASA's OCO-2 satellite. Aug 22, 2014 Artist Rendition of the OCO-2 Observatory Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech The Linde + Robinson Laboratory for Global Environmental Science at Caltech is the location of one of Wennberg's TCCON stations. As OCO-2 orbits overhead, this station and the others in the TCCON network will play an important part in calibrating the satellite's carbon dioxide data. Oct 29, 2015 They believe new data from OCO-2's successor, OCO-3 - which launched to the International Space Station last year - along with future space-based carbon dioxide-observing missions, may shed light on potential solutions to mitigating cities' carbon emissions. "Many people are interested in carbon dioxide emissions from large cities," Wu said.

Each panel has a dynamically selected range, which spans 7.5 ppm, In July of 2014, NASA launched its most advanced carbon dioxide monitoring satellite, The Orbiting Carbon Observatory (OCO-2). The first OCO burned up on launch. There has been a lot of anticipation regarding the data from this instrument. However, over a year after it launch, there has been little public information presented about its results.

High-Resolution CO 2 OCO-2 is the only mission focusing solely on the behavior of atmospheric carbon dioxide. Data from OCO-2 will provide a complete picture of human and natural carbon dioxide sources and sinks. OCO-2 strives to map the global geographic distribution of CO2, and study the CO2 changes over time. Figure 3.1 Maps of OCO-2 X CO2 data after bias correction for 2015.

Credit: Lance Hayashida/Caltech Marketing This study uses OCO‐2 measurements of CO 2 to estimate emissions during the 2018 Kilauea volcano eruption and is the first to trace satellite CO 2 data downwind from the source of a major volcanic eruption. Sep 13, 2017 · Although the Orbiting Carbon Observatory 2 (OCO‐2) satellite was not designed for monitoring power plant emissions, we show that in select cases, CO 2 observations from OCO‐2 can be used to quantify daily CO 2 emissions from individual middle‐ to large‐sized coal power plants by fitting the data to a simple model. Dec 13, 2016 The OCO-2 MIP The Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 (OCO-2) model intercomparison project (MIP) is a collaboration among atmospheric CO 2 modelers to study the impact of assimilating OCO-2 retrieval data into atmospheric inversion models. The results from the set of simulations performed by this project have been released as a level-4 flux product. Based on the initial data its sending back to Earth, it appears to have 20/20 vision and scientists will soon have plenty more data to analyze. An artist's rendering of OCO-2 in orbit. The XCO2 product has been validated with collocated ground-based measurements from the Total Carbon Column Observing Network (TCCON) for almost 2 years of OCO-2 data from September 2014 to July 2016. We found that fitting an additive radiometric offset in all three spectral bands of OCO-2 significantly improved the retrieval. High-Resolution CO 2 OCO-2 is the only mission focusing solely on the behavior of atmospheric carbon dioxide. OCO-2 is an exploratory science mission designed to collect space-based global measurements of atmospheric CO 2 with the precision, resolution, and coverage needed to characterize sources and sinks (fluxes) on regional scales (≥1000km). OCO-2 will also be able to quantify CO 2 variability over the seasonal cycles year after year.
